Pilgrim Theological Seminary has a number of needs as we continue our journey to make quality theological education available to as many people as possible.
First, we are most dependent upon the prayers of God's people. Please pray for us. Please pray that God will continue to help us find the right staff and adjunct faculty who are so critical to our mission. Please pray that we will do well communicating with prospective students whom God has chosen to lead and serve the Church and world in the years ahead. And please pray that God will enable us to develop an outstanding educational program that will not only help students develop educational competency but also the ability to more fully know the Lord, love the Lord, and serve the Lord.
Second, we are in need of course sponsors. Course sponsors provide the $1,000 needed to help develop the study resources and exams for a course. Course sponsors can give a course in memory or honor of a person or church.
Third, we continue to search for additional academically qualified adjunct faculty to teach at our Myrtle Beach location or to help develop online courses with video lectures. We are also looking for faculty who would like to teach a short course while visiting Myrtle Beach during the summer months.
Fourth, we need individuals and churches who would be willing to support the cost of providing one course to one incarcerated student. The cost is $100. This year the seminary will be offering the five courses that comprise the Biblical Studies Certificate. Click here to read a letter from the Board of Governors concerning this opportunity.
Fifth, we are also in need of postage stamps and small donations to help cover the start-up and operating cost of our program for incarcerated students.
A NOTE ABOUT STUDY BIBLES
The seminary is currently raising funds to provide soft cover Life Application Study Bibles (hard covers are often not permitted in prisons) to all of our incarcerated students. A good study Bible is absolutely essential for theological studies. We estimate that we will eventually need several thousand study Bibles to meet this need.
Study Bibles are rare in prison because of the cost. Fortunately, Tyndale House Publishers is working with us so that churches that would like to donate funds to provide one study Bible for an incarcerated student can do so for $35. This amount includes the cost of shipping / handling / etc. There are eight study Bibles in a case if you are interested in sending that number.
